BACKGROUND INFORMATION OF GREEN PASTURES SACCO Green Pastures SACCO Society LTD
Started as an internal activity within the Siteki Police Station [intelligence branch] in the Eastern part of Eswatini. It came as an idea that says ‘this time my pay pays you’ and next time, ‘your pay pays me’ to enable the less affording members to undertake certain projects which would have otherwise been difficult to undertake. After seeing the success of this idea, the members then decided to sell the idea to other stations and regions and finally ended up a national idea. A steering committee was then formed which facilitated the registration of the Society in 1988, of course with the support of Commissioner of Police of that time. As the name of the Society ‘GREEN PASTURES’ suggests, the idea was trying to bring greener pastures closer to the police service so that police officers should stop running around looking for greener pastures. Until today the main common bond for Society is and has always been the police officers, support staff of REPS and our SACCO staff members.
